At Providence Serving People (PSP), our journey began with a simple yet powerful aspiration: to make a difference in our community on the west side of Akron. Rooted in the values of compassion, unity, and service, PSP emerged as an extension of our deeply rooted connection with the people we call neighbors and friends.

Our church has long fostered a profound bond with the community, recognizing that our strength lies in collective action and shared purpose. With this at heart, PSP was conceived as a vehicle to enrich further and uplift the lives of those around us.

Since our inception, PSP has taken tangible form through a diverse array of initiatives aimed at nurturing the well-being and resilience of our community. From establishing a welcoming community playground and cultivating a flourishing community garden to providing essential resources such as a community basketball court and distributions of food and clothing to the homeless, PSP has remained steadfast in its commitment to serving those in need.

Our dedication extends beyond material support. We have embraced opportunities to foster human connection and dignity through community dinners on Thanksgiving and Christmas, alongside initiatives to provide nourishment and sustenance to our local residents through distributing bread and milk.

Recognizing the importance of inclusion and support for all members of our community, PSP has been a part of in-prison worship services for incarcerated individuals, extending a hand of compassion and understanding to those seeking redemption and renewal.

Empowering the next generation is central to our vision. Through strategic partnerships and initiatives like the scholarship program for our youth, we aim to provide pathways for growth, learning, and advancement, ensuring that every individual has the opportunity to thrive and contribute meaningfully to society.

But our journey doesn’t end here. As we look towards the horizon, we see endless possibilities for growth and impact. With new programs on the horizon and transformative projects like the new parking lot underway, PSP remains resolutely committed to realizing our collective potential and effecting positive change, one step at a time.
